even when I call for an on screen keyboard , i see both ctrl buttons held, in reality left ctrl doesnt work at all , and the rt one isnt ever pressed though when I press H it opens new tabs , o calls a save window etc. , but if I press ctrl 3 times(like a charm) the effect is disabled for 3 seconds or so , and theres no difference if I type it using on-screen keyboard ... so i`m thinking it s a driver é wind problem , any ideasÉ(quest. mark)

Check in Control Panel -> Regional and Language settings. Setting what sort of keyboard you are using might be important.

Do you have a "normal" keyboard connected? Did you install drivers/software for that keyboard? Look through the list of programs in Add or Remove Programs (or your version of Windows, as Admin pointed out). Uninstall the program/s for any keyboards...and that might include any "human interface devices ". So, for example, you have say, a Dell computer, Dell might install their keyboard and mouse software. You decide to get a Logitech keyboard and install the software for that. Then you decide to get a touch-screen and install the software for that. That is when you might start having problems.

After you uninstall those, then reinstall the software for the touch-screen.

Go to Start (orb) and type Device into the search bar, open Device Manager. Look under Monitor and also Human Interface Devices or it might be listed separately.

Before you do anything in Device Manager, I expect the touch-screen was already functional when you got the computer. Go to Control Panel -> Programs and Features and check through the list for a program related to the screen. I would go the system manufacturer's website (is the screen the same brand as the computer?) and look through their driver and program updates.

Have you tried putting your system details in your WindowsBBS user profile? Check this part
Get updated drivers or software before you decide to work on it. Did the system come with a drivers disk? Some manufacturers put them on the hard drive.

When you have updated or the original drivers/software, you can then uninstall those items in Device Manager or Programs and Features, then reinstall the new ones.

We might be able to help you find them if we knew the brands and model numbers of the hardware.

thanks for your halp so far
hp tablet support for mobility center
is the only relater prog I could find on the list
there is nothing I can d with language settings , its canada english , no prob there , and didnt really expect it to be there

its the ctrl key thing , its as if it gets toggled automatically every 3 seconds
and I have to press it for PC to realize its actually not pressed
nothing I can do with drivers because they are obviously key=non removable

    (PS:
as a side pt in the list of add/rem progs I cant even uninstall/try doing something because I just tried deleting a game and apparently it considers some program to be currently uninstalling and waiting for i t to finish , but its not to be found anywhere no tab, not on tsk manager ... like some ghost uninstall :p )

I tried searching around HP. See if you can carry out some of these, they might reset it or give you a lead

Is the HP on-screen keyboard different to the Windows on-screen keyboard? Try the Windows keyboard.

The update for the HP keyboard might be in their general software updates.

Check in the User Guide/manual about using the keyboard.

Look for settings that may have been made, like hot-keys or accessibility settings. Have you installed any programs that could be affecting it? (You might want to try turning off background programs using msconfig (look up Run Selective Startup using System Configuration in Help and Support.

Is it still under warranty? If yes, you should contact HP about the problem in case you need to get it serviced and then you have a record of the date you first notified them that something was wrong.

Try uninstalling the monitor (unless there is something more specific to the touch-screen) in Device Manager, then do a restart.

Don't discount that you might have spyware in the form of a keylogger. So do some online antimalware scanning.

If the on-screen keyboard and touch-screen are supplied by HP, I think you need to ask them. Try their forums.

RE: The uninstallation problem, investigate the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility. You can download it at the Microsoft website.
